PG prosecutor dismisses stabbing case on third day of jury trial

Criminal defense attorneys Andrew Jezic and Jamie Alvarado-Taylor achieved a rare type of vindication for their client who was charged with stabbing a man in the chest: the prosecutor dismissed the entire case on the third day of the jury trial.

Jezic’s cross-examination of the State’s numerous eyewitness to the stabbing created such tremendous doubt as to the identity of the real stabber, that the State eventually gave in, even when the Defendant had not finished presenting all of its witnesses.

The client, who would have been sent to prison for years and deported, if convicted, was ecstatic. He was fully prepared to testify on the third day in front of the jury, but he never had to take the stand because the Assistant State’s Attorney decided to abandon the prosecution mid-trial.
