Mr. Yacub has successfully represented hundreds of immigrants in removal proceedings throughout the Immigration Court system and the federal judiciary. He has four published opinions under his name, one issued by the Board of Immigration Appeals, and three by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Yacub has over 100 unpublished opinions under his name in the same high courts. Mr. Yacub has argued appeals in Federal appellate courts in ten states, including Texas, Florida, New York, Arizona, and Georgia. Mr. Yacub achieved national recognition in 2007 when he won a ground-breaking appeal in the Board of Immigration Appeals, making it harder for the Federal Government to deport legal residents who have been convicted of minor domestic violence crimes.
Because of his national stature and extensive knowledge in immigration law, Mr. Yacub was a featured speaker at the American Immigration Lawyers' Association (AILA) 2008 Annual Conference, and authored the article "Challenges to the Use of Diplomatic Assurances in the Application for Protection Against Torture," published in the AILA Immigration and Nationality Act Handbook 2008-09. In addition, Mr. Yacub has given presentations to the local criminal bar in Fairfax and Loudon counties on the issues of criminal consequences to immigrants.
Mr. Yacub has vast experience representing foreign born nationals with criminal issues, business and family based visas and lawful permanent residency as well as naturalization issues.
Mr. Yacub is barred in Maryland , Washington , DC , Virginia as well as in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the United States District Court of Maryland, the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuit court of appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
